  1. Hello! I’m a resident of Terre Haute and I have always heard about Markle Hill Dam but never visited it until recently and never knew about the Markle House and I love history and I have taken a lot of pictures of the house, the dam, the mill remains and park. I will always cherish these pictures and video I have taken. I am honored to have seen the house and dam. Thank You! For Preserving The House!

  3. My husband and I moved to Terre Haute in 1989 with our 4 kids. My oldest son learned the history of the Markle House in 8th grade, so we made trip to see it. After affer a few years we moved to Sandcut and drove past every day. The history has always been intrigued by the history. Now it makes me sad that the damn is gone. Thank you for caring for such a beautiful part of Terra Haute.

  5. Hi, I’m a descendant of Abraham Markle. My maternal Grandmother was Edith Markle O’Brien. My mother actually lived in the home around 1947-48 when she was14-15 years old. She had a few stories about it. We get to tour the home when the historical Society had it. I’ve always been so proud to be part of this history. I’m happy to see someone taking care of it.
    Thank you
